FAMILY : XANTHIDAE
Atergatis floridus (Linne, 1767)

This animal's shell is covered
with 2 species of barnacles, and serpulid worm tubes. The orange barnacles
on the
underside are in the family Heteralipadidae, possibly Paralepas quadrata. This
is an Epizoic species on crabs and
lobsters. Epizoic is defined as living or growing on the external surface of
an animal.
